The MAX294EWE+T is a member of the MAX294EWE family of products, which provide an active filter solution to a variety of analog interface applications. Its performance characteristics include: High-frequency, low-noise and high-bandwidth capability; wide temperature range; low-cost; very low power dissipation; and low-distortion, high-sensitivity operation with programmable gain and offset.The filter offers an interface filter solution to a variety of analog applications with a frequency range of 50kHz to 2GHz. It provides low-pass, band-pass and low-cut filter characteristics, with both single-ended and differential inputs and outputs, and programmable gain and offset. The MAX294EWE+T is targeted for use in systems such as cellular phones, CDMA, DECT and other wide-band wireless communication applications.The filter\'s active design provides excellent high-frequency characteristics and offers significant advantages over passive filter approaches. The filter\'s operation is based on a patent-pending current feedback architecture, which provides superior noise, distortion and frequency response characteristics. The circuit also features high linearity and low power operation, with a quiescent power dissipation of only 4 89mW at 2GHz.The circuit is designed on a low-cost 0.35 μm CMOS process and is available in a tiny 5- and 8-pin TSOP package with a standard 10-pin SOIC. The MAX294EWE+T is a highly optimized, programmable active filter solution, ideal for applications requiring excellent high-frequency performance and low cost.The MAX294EWE+T\'s circuit structure consists of two current-feedback active filter blocks, a low-pass 8th-order section and a band-pass 5th-order section. The two filter blocks are connected in series, using a single gain element to set the overall gain of the filter. The circuit also includes two output buffer amplifiers, one for each filter section, which provide a DC path to ground for the output signals and allow the outputs to be terminated directly to the load impedance.The MAX294EWE+T\'s programmability is provided by three independent digital control pins. These pins allow the user to set the input gain, output gain, and the center frequency of the filter. All of these parameters are easily set via the DIP switches on the package or through an I2C compatible interface.The MAX294EWE+T offers an active filter solution to a variety of analog interface applications. Its performance characteristics include high-frequency, low-noise and high-bandwidth capability, wide temperature range, low cost, low power dissipation, and low distortion, high-sensitivity operation with programmable gain and offset.
