The MAX3087ESA+T is an ultra-low power 10Mbps half-duplex, RS-485 transceiver designed to meet automotive and industrial standards, providing galvanic isolation to the system. Operating supply voltage ranges from 3V to 5.5V, and the device is able to operate over a wide -40°C to +125°C temperature range making it suitable for many hostile environment applications. It is a combination of fast switching CMOS driver and a low power, low differential input Schottky transceiver that can be used in a full-duplex system, along with a full-duplex cable. With its very low power consumption of only 0.36mA the MAX3087ESA+T can be operated in low-power, low-voltage operation modes and is able to achieve up to 10Mbps data rate. The device also includes two high-impedance control logic inputs (RE, DE), which enable easy control of the device’s receive and enable/disable functions.The MAX3087ESA+T is an ideal solution for various industrial and automotive applications such as serial bus networks and communications, sensor networks, motor control, and energy management systems. The MAX3087ESA+T is capable of operating in three distinct modes: passive, half-duplex, and full-duplex. The low-power passive mode requires minimal current standby operating current of 0.36mA while the half-duplex mode provides RX and TX switching, utilizing up to 5mA (3V).The MAX3087ESA+T transceiver utilizes a low-power driver that provides an output voltage in the range of 0.4V to 3.2V, enabling cables up to several hundred feet. The device is also able to withstand ±30kV ESD punches and is IEC 61000-4-2 Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) compliant. The device provides an adjustable slew-rate limitation on A and B driver signals, allowing for optimized EMI performance, and the receiver limits EMI by maxing out the data rate in full-duplex mode at 10Mbps, even though the device can handle up to 125Mbps data rate in half-duplex mode.The MAX3087ESA+T is a powerful device that provides many features and benefits at a power-efficient low-power design.
