MAX3766EEP+

The MAX3766EEP+ is a laser driver with a range of applications in power management, communications and LED lighting. It is part of a line of power management integrated circuits (PMICs) focused on providing power, control and signaling solutions. The MAX3766EEP+ offers high efficiency, low quiescent current and low self-heating. These features make it well suited for many applications, including: driving light-emitting diodes (LEDs), bipolar junction transistors (BJTs), and metals-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistors (MOSFETs) in automotive lighting systems; driving laser units in photometry, medical, auto and industrial sensing applications, and powering solid-state relays (SSRs) in industrial automation and motor control systems.

At the heart of the MAX3766EEP+ is a control loop that uses an error amplifier, a fast error amplifier and a voltage reference to maintain the current in the output circuit. The feedback from the output current is compared to the reference voltage and the difference is used to control the output current. The output current for each pin is adjusted independently via an internal digital-to-analog converter, allowing precise control of the current over a wide range of settings. The current settings are also adjustable from the outside, allowing the user to customize the settings for the desired application. Additionally, the device also includes protections for short circuits, overcurrent and overvoltage.
