MAX31629MTA+T Application Field and Working Principle
MAX31629MTA+T is a multi-channel thermistor digital temperature monitor with integrated cold-junction compensation, which belongs to the family of Power Management and Thermal Management. In general, it monitors for up to four externally connected precision NTC thermistors and provides an interrupt signal on each channel when the configured temperature is exceeded. This kind of product mainly applies to basic thermal management system, medical and industrial control.
The core system of MAX31629MTA+T thermistor digital temperature monitor consists of an analog section and a digital section. The analog section is mainly composed of four temperature amplifiers, which can form an amplified voltage proportional to the temperature of the corresponding thermistor. This amplified voltage will next be compared by two comparators along with the reference voltage capacitor to form the cold-junction compensation voltage. This voltage will be subtracted from the corresponding temperature amplified signals in the subtrahend of the output multiplexer. Then, the output signals of the comparators will enter the digital section for further processing.
In the digital section, four successive approximation ADC is designed to convert the digital output signals of the analog section into digital values. The digital temperature data can be send through the I²C bus to the microcontroller for further applications. Moreover, when the temperature readings exceed the upper or lower limits that been programmed, the MAX31629MTA+T will send an active-low alert interrupt to the microcontroller.

This product is ideal for extreme temperature measurement and compensating applications, that require accuracy and reliability with minimal size and cost.
