MAX3645ESE+T Application Field and Working Principle
The MAX3645ESE+T is a special purpose linear amplifier on the market today. It is an integrated circuit (IC) that can be used to increase the signal strength from an antenna in an electronic system. Utilising the latest techniques in transistor-level technology, it can reduce current consumption, power consumption and harmonic distortion all while providing improved linearity and system performance.
Ideal for base station, wireless infrastructure, military and avionics applications, the MAX3645ESE+T provides both high input dynamic range and low-power consumption. Its up to 65dB gain can be adjusted by an external resistor, while its wide input dynamic range makes it suitable for both high-density and low-cost digital systems. Additionally, its low-noise input stage provides outstanding signal-to-noise ratio performance, while its low-harmonic distortion and linearity ensure a suitable performance over frequencies ranging from 1 MHz to 8 GHz.
The MAX3645ESE+T works using a differential architecture whereby two transistors, one NPN and one PNP, are connected with each other in a differential amplifier configuration. A signal is inputted at the bases of the two transistors and amplified before emerging from the output port. With the two transistors connected in the same configuration, the two are affected by their environment in the same way which minimises unwanted input received from the surrounding environment. This produces enhanced linearity and system performance.
The MAX3645ESE+T can also utilise an optional charge pump circuit to provide positive and negative voltage bias current sources. This allows the amplifier to work within a wide range of input voltages, making it suitable for use in a variety of applications. The charge pump requires three external capacitors and an external resistor to adjust its current source voltage, while its low power consumption allows for increased battery life.
Finally, the MAX3645ESE+T can also be configured to support multiple output modes, allowing for a variety of connections to other circuits. The amplifier features two output ports, a differential "+" port and a “-“ port, and can be configured to support a low- noise differential behavior, a single-ended output or a grounding mode. This flexibility makes it ideal for a wide range of applications and gives design engineers the freedom to optimise their design.
