The MAX396CAI is a quad analog multiplexer / demultiplexer that is part of the convenient and reliable family of multi-function logic ICs from Maxim Integrated. Ideal for switching and sampling applications, it has a TTL/CMOS-compatible digital input and a wide analog supply range, which makes it particularly well-suited for a number of tasks requiring different voltage levels. This device consists of four single channel multiplexers/demultiplexers, with full analog performance. The MAX396CAI has two enable (E1 and E2) signals and four data input/output pins. The fast switching times of the MAX396CAI make it ideal for applications that require both high and low power operation. The low operating supply current of 1.8 mA makes it suitable for low power applications, while the 0.2 micro-second switching time enables high speed data acquisition and sampling. In addition, this device also offers ESD protection and a wide temperature range of −40°C to +85°C.

The device also supports TTL/CMOS-compatible digital levels, from 3V to 18V, allowing a wide variety of signal switching and signal isolation tasks. As such, it is an ideal device for multiple signal types, such as DC/AC/pulse signals, both unipolar and bipolar, digital or analog. The ability to drive up to 65mA per channel ensure the MAX396CAI is able to handle high power loads.
