MAX4600EWE+ is a precision, single-pole double-throw analog/switch multiplexer (SPDT) designed for switching, multiplexing, and routing applications. It is a combination of an analog/switch SPDT switch, a low-noise op amp, and a precision voltage source. Switching can be controlled via the digital or analog input, or via a TTL or CMOS logic. The switch can drive up to 10mA of current and is ideal for AC or DC signal levels.
The MAX4600EWE+ works through the pairing of analog input signals with digital control signals. This facilitates routing signals to their desired destinations. The analog input signals being routed are typically very low-amplitude, with voltages of a few millivolts. Simply connect a logic high or low to PREAMPIN in order to wire through A_IN to B_IN or A_IN to D_IN connections.
The MAX4600EWE+ requires an external voltage source connected to the VCI pin. The external voltage serves to bias the SPDT switch between the A and D connections. Depending on the voltage applied to the VCI pin, the SPDT switch will remain in either the A_IN to B_IN or A_IN to D_IN connections. When the SPDT switch is in one particular state and a logic high or low is presented to the PREAMPIN pin, the SPDT switch will switch into the other connection state.
