The MAX5035DUSA+T is a low quiescent current, integrated synchronous dual output step-down DC-DC switch regulator with power-good indicator, suitable for multiple applications, especially for portable electronic devices. It has excellent behavior in load or line transients and operates from an input voltage range of 2.7V to 5.5V. Outputs are programmable from 0.8V up to 5.1V for up to 1.4A of load current. The device uses advanced control techniques to provide an efficient, fast transient response, and operates in fixed frequency for both output regulators at 1.4MHz. The output voltage is digitally selectable among preset values. It also has programmable soft-start, output voltage tracking, output current limit, and shutdown features.The MAX5035DUSA+T features a power-good output signal that indicates that the output voltage is above 90% of the programmed voltage. An active voltage positioner (AVP) ensures that sequencing and tracking of the two outputs is fast and accurate, even in difficult conditions.The MAX5035DUSA+T is an ideal choice for a wide range of applications, such as consumer and portable electronics, telecom, networking, transportation, gaming systems and other industrial equipment.In its operation, the MAX5035DUSA+T generates two regulated output voltages using switching techniques. The device consists of two high-efficiency, synchronous,dc-dc buck converters, each with its own internal power switches, power inductors, power switches and output voltage reference pins. An oscillator generates the system clock frequency and each converter is synchronized to it. With the output voltage reference pins, the output voltages are set to any of the available values. The inductor current is sensed and is fed back to the error amplifier. In order to regulate the voltage, the error signal is compared to the reference voltage level. The output of the error amplifier is then used to control the duty cycle of the converters by varying the on time of their switches.A key factor in improving the overall performance of dc-dc switch regulators is their fast transient response. To address this, the MAX5035DUSA+T features a proprietary active voltage positioner (AVP) that provides precise tracking between the regulators, in addition to a low response time.To meet the demands of various system architectures, the MAX5035DUSA+T also includes programmable soft-start, output voltage tracking, output current limit, and shutdown features. The soft-start feature prevents the output voltage from jumping during power-up, which improves system stability. This feature is programmable via an external capacitor.The MAX5035DUSA+T also has output voltage tracking, which helps regulate the output voltage across the load. Output current limit allows the device to shut down once it reaches a certain current limit, thereby protecting itself in case of overload. Finally, the device can be put into a low power shutdown mode, disconnecting the output from the input and consuming only micro-amps of current. Overall, the MAX5035DUSA+T is a low quiescent current, integrated synchronous dual output step-down DC-DC switch regulator with power-good indicator that is suitable for multiple applications, especially for portable electronic devices.
