The Digital to Analogue Converter (DAC) MAX5852ETL+ from Maxim Integrated is a CMOS-based multichannel, high-speed, low-power, low-noise, 12-bit monolithic DAC. The MAX5852ETL+ integrates a wide range of performance features into a single DAC, making it the ideal choice for a wide range of applications from sensing, instrumentation, and motor control to data acquisition and communications. The MAX5852ETL+ is designed to achieve high-speed performance, low distortion, low noise, high precision and linearity, and ease of use.The MAX5852ETL+ supports a wide range of input formats: non-buffered unipolar input (VCC/2 or floating), non-buffered bipolar input (VCC or floating), buffered unipolar input (floating or ground-referenced), and buffered bipolar input (VCC or floating). Its output format is single-ended or dual-ended (pseudo-differential). The output voltage range is adjustable from 0V to VCC, selected through the AVREF input pin.The MAX5852ETL+ operates from a single +2.7V to +5.5V supply and dissipates just 0.4W of power. It is also highly temperature resistant, rated at 6 hrs/2oC. The pin-compatible device with additional power shaping features also reduces power consumption and EMI emissions.The MAX5852ETL+ features an on-chip output amplifier which provides a fast settling time, allowing the device to output accurate data at frequencies of up to 50MHz. The DAC achieves excellent linearity performance, with 0.2LSB DNL (Differential Nonlinearity) and 0.003% differential linearity error (DLE). It has a -88 dBc Spurious Free Dynamic Range (SFDR) at 230MHz outwords and a maximum settling speed of 1.6 μs.The MAX5852ETL+ is suitable for a range of applications, such as data logging, data acquisition, instrumentation, motor control and communications. It is particularly suitable for use in military and aerospace applications, due to its high temperature stability and low power dissipation.Other features included are an integrated voltage reference, selectable full-scale ranges, dual-string architecture (for lower distortion), output auto-zeroing and a fast startup time of just 10 ms. An SPI compatible serial interface is also provided, allowing users to interface with a microcontroller.The MAX5852ETL+ provides a high-performance solution for analogue applications, combining low power consumption and low noise performance. It is ideal for a range of data-acquisition, sensing and instrumentation applications that require low distortion and fast throughput.
