The MAX5915EUI+T power management IC (PMIC) are designed for hot swap applications. It is a high-performance dual-channel intelligent hot-swap controller in two versions of package, the +TQFN and +TDFN. This device integrates high precision voltage sensing, advanced programmability, accurate current sensing and current limiting, and other features that can protect valuable system and safety delicate components from inrush current, hot swap over currents, and fault conditions. This PMIC offers excellent programmability with a high-accuracy voltage and current monitor, a reporting system, with programmable voltage sensing and fault thresholds.

The MAX5915EUI+T is an analog pulse-width modulation (PWM) controller and multiplexer combination unit that offers the power of integration and scalability, while providing accurate and advanced measurements to the user. It is a low power, high-performance analog swap controller, with a wide variety of features to support a range of applications.

The MAX5915EUI+T is designed to work with a variety of input sources, and it provides adjustable current limiting for optimum protection of the components being powered. The adjustable over-voltage protection and temperature protection can prevent damage to the system by limiting supplied current. This PMIC offers extensive diagnostic support with programmable reporting mechanisms, which can monitor and report on current, voltage, and temperature, allowing the user and system to take preventative steps when the device is coming close to a fault condition.

The MAX5915EUI+T features two operational modes, normal and active mode. Normal mode is designed for typical hot-swap operations, utilizing the onboard PWM controller to limit the inrush current. In Active mode, the device acts as a current sense amplifier and will only disconnect the supply voltage in the event of an over-current or under-voltage condition. This mode also optimizes dynamic response when a supply has to be disconnected rapidly due to a fault condition. Moreover, the MAX5915EUI+T features comprehensive functional safety features compliant with IEC6259-1 requirements, and an internal proprietary algorithm that monitors and detects the presence of over-voltage, under-voltage, and over-temperature conditions.

The MAX5915EUI+T is part of a family of devices suitable for hot-swap applications in systems such as digital networks, telecommunications, wired and wireless communication systems, medical devices, and portable battery-powered applications.
