MAX5972BETE+T is a highly integrated and feature-rich Power over Ethernet (PoE) Controllers designed specifically for PoE applications. It integrates a PoE Ethernet transceiver, a PoE controller and power supply, as well as a host of functional blocks, including a voltage regulator, transient voltage suppressor, current limit, and state machine control.

The MAX5972BETE+T integrates a programmable, low-side current-sense amplifier, with adjustable peak and valley thresholds, to quickly initiate PoE power delivery while protecting the upstream source and the downstream port. The MAX5972BETE+T also features an integrated DC power-on latch and a sequential state machine with programmable state transitions using the VICNAME pin, allowing the user to control the power-up sequence of the system. Finally, the MAX5972BETE+T provides an integrated *Secondary Protection Circuit with monitoring of the PoE load and power-good output signaling.
