MAX5984DETI+T is a power management IC (PMIC) that integrates a Power Over Ethernet (PoE) controller with two switching regulators, two linear regulators, and one LDO regulator. The MAX5984DETI+T operates from an external supply or from the PoE IEEE 802.3af/at intermediate power synchronous rectifier (ISR) bus voltage. When powered from the PoE network, it supplies power for up to four devices and isolates a powered device (PD). The integrated configurable mask allows the MAX5984DETI+T to be programmed to meet the 802.3af/at PoE powering requirements.

The IC’s two switching regulators and two linear regulators provide termination and isolation power for the Ethernet PHY. The switching regulation portion consists of two, 150mA, 200mV switching regulators and one 250mA, 140mV, low-dropout linear regulator. The linear regulation portion consists of two 150mA linear regulators. The two regulators can be configured in either pulse-skipping mode, pulse-width modulation (PWM) mode, or force-PWM mode.
