MAX8631YETI+ is a high-performance PMIC -- LED driver from Maxim Integrated Products, Inc. It is designed to boost LED efficiency and reduce power consumption, while improving LED brightness. The device integrates a low dropout, 1.2V voltage regulator with current and voltage regulation, protected LED regulation, and programmable LED blinks.

Working Principle

The MAX8631YETI+\'s core embedded system uses a charge-pump and low dropout regulator for maximum power savings. It combines a 2MHz, integrated, current-mode, step-down DC-DC regulator with high-performance, 0.95V current-sensing circuitry and advanced surge protection schemes. The DC-DC regulator provides up to 200mA of output current. The low dropout regulator is designed to maintain a fixed output voltage of 1.2V, while allowing a 20% output current transient. The PMIC – LED driver also provides an LED blinking feature to indicate LED brightness. The blinking frequency is programmable.

The MAX8631YETI+ ensures stable LED operating condition in different working temperature ranges. It utilizes an adaptive I/V curve tracking algorithm that enables the device to detect and automatically compensate for changing LED characteristics, such as low input voltages, high ambient temperature and LED aging.

The MAX8631YETI+ PMIC – LED driver also features a thermal shutdown, overvoltage lockout, and overcurrent protection. It provides energy savings, improved system efficiency, and reduced form factor for various applications.
