MBRT40030 Application Field and Working Principle

The MBRT40030 rectifier is an array of four, high power silicone rectifiers with a fast recovery feature to meet the needs of modern diode applications. The rectifiers typically provide fast switching with low reverse leakage current, excellent thermal stability and easy assembly.

Application Field

The MBRT40030 rectifier is ideal for use in line frequency based applications such as high power rectification, vector control, battery chargers and induction 24VDC control.

The rectifier is also suitable for use in continuous current application such as DC power supplies, solar panel inverters and server power supplies.

The MBRT40030 rectifier is also suitable for use in photovoltaic applications such as floating cell string diode modules, residential grid-tie inverters, solar dc sample collectors and other power distribution systems.

Working Principle

The MBRT40030 rectifier is a full wave bridge rectifier formed by four MBR40030 rectifiers connected in a bridge circuit. In this circuit two of the rectifiers conduct during the positive half-cycle, and the other two rectifiers conduct during the negative half-cycle. This ensures that full wave rectification is achieved and yields a constant DC output voltage.

The fast recovery feature of the MBRT40030 rectifier is achieved by employing a special control circuit which ensures that the rectifiers are switched off even after very short negative and positive half-cycles. This ensures that the output voltage is extremely stable and allows the rectifier to be used in applications where instantaneous changes in current need to be accurately rectified.
