MBRT40030RL Application Field and Working PrincipleThe MBRT40030RL is a diodes-rectifiers-arrays application field device that works in two very different modes depending on the electrical current running through it. The device function can be understood by examining the two different states it finds itself in when it is in operation. Firstly, when no active current is passing through the device, it is in a low power mode, with operating temperature range being 0 – 70 °C. Here, the device operates as a rectifier to protect sensitive circuits from the electrical over current. This is done through a simple Zener barrier process which helps to lower the voltage and current delivered to the load. However, when an active current is passing through the device, it is in its high power mode, with operating temperature range being -40 – + ++ 125°C. During this state, the device operates as a switch, helping to control the voltage and current passed to the load. In this state, the device has a low On-State Resistance (DCR), and a low Forward Voltage drop owing to its low Gate sensitivity. The Zener barrier works by comparing the voltage at the two opposing terminals, the anode and cathode. This helps to reduce overcurrent and over voltage and creates a stable voltage and current state across the switching device. Moreover, its peak thermal resistance is 0.07 degrees Celsius per watt, and it has a forward voltage of 1.2V @ 3A.
