The MC13202FC is an RF transceiver integrated circuit (IC) that provides radio transmission and reception for wireless communication within the ISM band (2.4GHz). It is intended for applications that require low-power operation, simplicity, and low cost.
The MC13202FC offers a range of features and advantages for use in many applications such as remote control, vehicle tracking, wireless audio/data links, and other digital communication systems. For unidirectional applications, the MC13202FC can be configured to detect and decode signals from up to four channels simultaneously. For bidirectional applications, the MC13202FC can be configured to transmit and receive data on up to eight channels simultaneously.
The RF section of the MC13202FC consists of a voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO), a voltage-controlled amplifier (VCA), and an RF filter for signal conditioning. The VCO provides clock outputs to the baseband processor. The VCA amplifies the received signal. An RF filter blocks any unwanted signals. The MC13202FC also includes an automatic gain control (AGC) module to adjust the gain of the amplifier, a carrier detection unit to detect and locate the incoming signal, and a signal strength measurement circuit for monitoring the signal strength.
The MC13202FC also includes an RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indicator) circuit that measures the received signal strength. This RSSI circuit uses an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) to measure the signal strength and provide an output in the form of a voltage. The RSSI value can then be used to determine the distance between the transmitter and receiver.
The MC13202FC also includes an adjustable transmit power control (TXPC) which allows the power of the transmitted signal to be adjusted to suit the application. The TXPC circuit adjusts the output power to compensate for different types of environments and different ranges of communication. The output power can be adjusted from 5dBm to 60dBm and can be used to increase the range of communication up to 1km.
