MC78LC18NTRG voltage regulator is a linear voltage regulator based on conventional monolithic integrated circuit. It is designed for various power management applications for different kind of systems.

Since its function is very similar to that of 78LXX Series but with higher output current, it is widely used in some high power applications, such as LED display & driving, motor drive, digital & analog circuit and etc.

MC78LC18NTRG Working Principle

The MC78LC18NTRG voltage regulator is also known as a linear regulator because it works by regulating the output voltage with respect to the input voltage. It consists of two main parts, the control amplifier and the pass transistor. The control amplifier senses the output voltage and compares it to the reference voltage.
