MCP14E11-E/SN is an industrial-grade control switch gate driver released by Microchip Technology, Inc., belonging to PMIC - Gate Drivers. It is mainly used in high-power power electronic systems. It supports Infineon’s CoolMOS™, IGBT and Fast SiC MOSFETs, traditional N-channel MOSFETs and also G-Series MOSFETs. This gate driver is powered by a single 5 volts supply, with a slew rate of 12 volts per microsecond.

The MCP14E11-E/SN gate driver provides efficient, fault-protected and low-emission solutions from 350 kHz to 10 MHz for a variety of power electronic applications, including switched-mode power supplies (SMPS), AC/DC and DC/DC converters, traction drives, solar inverters and motor drives. Additionally, it has been applied in various other areas such as uninterruptible power systems (UPS), welding, medical and automotive applications.

This gate driver is not only suitable for switching high power N-channel MOSFETs, but also for CoolMOS™ and SiC MOSFETs. It can work with 25 to 75 volts. Additionally, the MCP14E11-E/SN gate driver features built-in paralleling, synchronization and temperature management functions. Its dynamic deadtime configuration makes it suitable for different frequencies and K Factor conditions.

The MCP14E11-E/SN control switch gate driver provides high CL switching, easily configured low frequency and low CL operation. It can provide an adjustable peak output current up to 1600mA such as 30A to support a range of power levels. With its input enable logic, it can also be used in hardware applications.

The working principle of MCP14E11-E/SN gate driver is as follows: Firstly, a signal level – which is applied to the input of the driver –is converted into a voltage swing, then an internal current source carries the voltages to the gate of the gate driver.
