Data Acquisition - Analog Front End (AFE)
The MCP3911A0T-E/ML is a growing field in Data Acquisition technology, also known as Analog Front End (AFE) solutions. It supports 10-bit, 8-channel simultaneous sampling with high resolution analog inputs for data acquisition in a very widerange of applications.In comparison to discrete devices, the MCP3911A0T-E/ML offers high-resolution analog inputs, low power dissipation and low noise levels which make it suitable for various advanced industrial and consumer applications such as motor speed and drive control, environmental monitoring, chemical sensing and industrial automation.The MCP3911A0T-E/ML has a low power, low-noise 8-channel simultaneous sampling analog front-end (AFE) device designed to support 10-bit resolution, 8-channel simultaneous sampling. The unit provides high resolution and accuracy when measuring low level signals, common mode signals and differential signals in the presence of high common-mode voltages.The MCP3911A0T-E/ML features an AC/DC pin which allows the user to either select an AC or DC input, thereby supporting both AC and DC signals in a single device. The device also includes a voltage reference of 2.5V, along with a programmable gain amplifier (PGA) which provides a gain of up to 32V/V. The device also includes two differential channels for common-mode noise rejection capabilities, and can sample signals with 50kHz bandwidth.The MCP3911A0T-E/ML operates from a single +3.3V supply, and at a current consumption of 110uA. In addition, the device comes with on-chip power-down and shutdown modes for reduced power consumption.The on-chip digital filter allows the user to adjust the device\'s response time, and is designed to minimize the settling time, thus reducing the need for downstream filtering.The MCP3911A0T-E/ML supports both SPI and I2C interfaces. The SPI interface offers high-speed data transfer with data rates up to 8MHz. In addition, the device comes with on-chip power-on reset and programmable fault-detection features.In terms of performance, the MCP3911A0T-E/ML has a differential input voltage range of 1.8V to 5.25V, and an input impedance of 1MOhm. It also supports a maximum input noise of 30nV/sqrt(Hz) at 20kHz. The on-chip PGA provides a gain range from unity to 32V/V.
