MCP4262-103E/MF is an integrated Digital Potentiometer (DP) specifically designed for use in automotive, industrial, and consumer applications. This digitally programmable resistor provides an adjustable wiper resistance that allows for digital control and adjustment of the amount of resistance between two resistance elements, allowing for a more readily adjustable voltage divider than with a conventional mechanical potentiometer. The device uses a single-pole, double throw (SPDT) switch to digitally adjust the wiper position up or down. The resistance of the wiper can be adjusted in either direction, and either by one increment or by 10 increments at a time, depending on the DSMODE pin setting. When the device is used as a rheostat, two resistance elements are connected in series and the voltage across the resistance is varied accordingly.The MCP4262-103E/MF can be used in a variety of different applications. It can be used to adjust the rotational speed of a motor, control the brightness of an LED, regulate the temperature of a system, or precisely adjust the output of a DC power supply.
