Comparing between two different analog signals is critical in various applications. To meet this need, Texas Instruments has developed a linear comparator, MCP6547T-I/MS. It can compare signals such as voltage, current, temperature, pressure, and others with high precision, making it ideal for many different industrial applications.

MCP6547T-I/MS uses open collector technology to compare two different analog signals. It is based on the simple notion that the difference between two analog signals can be calculated by comparing their magnitudes. If the magnitudes of the two signals are equal, the comparator output is zero. If one signal is larger than the other, the comparator output is a voltage. This voltage can either be positive or negative, depending on the relative magnitude of the two signals.
