Thyristor–SCR (silicon-controlled rectifier) is an electronic device with four layer of alternating n- and p-type materials that functions as a switch. It was initially developed in 1957 and is the most commonly used semiconductor device in power control applications. Devices are available with a wide range of current ratings, and are suitable for use with both AC and DC circuits.

The MCR22-6G is designed to be used in various applications such as surge and lightning protection, automotive lighting and security, AC motor speed control and UPS systems. The MCR22-6G is a single-phase, three-terminal thyristor that features a maximum junction temperature of +175°C, a forward blocking voltage of 600V, and a holding current of 55mA.
