How Does It Work?
The MIC2145BML is a synchronous DC-DC switching regulator providing a simple and compact solution capable of supplying up to 1.2A of load current. The MIC2145BML operates in switching mode and follows the following steps:
- The internal high-side power MOSFET (switching device) is turned on by the signal of the internal oscillator.
- The signal of the oscillator causes the high-side power MOSFET to turn on, which in turn turns on the low-side MOSFET.
- When both MOSFET\'s are turned on, the voltage is dropped across the power MOSFET\'s and the current flows from the input to the output, providing a regulated output voltage.
- Once the current reaches the maximum value specified in the register, the oscillator signal changes and powers the page (output) remains constant.
The MIC2145BML switches at a frequency adjustable up to 1MHz in order to lower the EMI generated. Additionally, it has integrated loop compensation components that improve regulation and enable the output voltage to be programmed accurately.
The MIC2145BML is designed to be robust and has been qualified according to AEC-Q100. It is an ideal solution for cost-sensitive applications, such as smartphones, digital still cameras and tablet PCs.
