The MIC2583-JYQS features a wide input voltage range of 4.5V to 20V, making it suitable for most applications in computing, automotive, industrial, and consumer designs. With integrated MOSFETs, the integrated device provides a low cost, complete solution for Hot Swap designs.

The Hot Swap Controller can be used in applications such as those requiring inrush current protection, power cycling, overtemperature protection, and current limiting. An external sense resistor allows the controller to accurately sense the load current and limit it to a programmed current limit threshold. Additionally, the overvoltage protection circuit provides protection against voltage transients.

The MIC2583-JYQS provides precision temperature control thanks to its integrated temperature feedback loop. It monitors the junction temperature of the MOSFETs and adjusts the peak current limit as necessary to ensure that the device does not exceed the programmed temperature set-point. If the set-point temperature is exceeded, the device will switch to a low-power standby mode until the junction temperature decreases below the threshold.

The MIC2583-JYQS Hot Swap Controller also features a programmable over-temperature protection (OTP) feature. This feature allows for an adjustable temperature set-point for when the device should shut down. The device will shut down and enter a low-power standby mode when the junction temperature exceeds the OTP set-point. This feature helps to protect the device from thermal damage in the event of a temperature anomaly.

The MIC2583-JYQS Hot Swap Controller provides multiple control and protection features in a single easy to use package. The integrated MOSFETs and integrated control logic allow for a simple power control solution without the need for external components and circuitry.
