Working Principle

The MIC2583R-LYQS-TR is a true hot swap controller and has two independent,active outputs. The voltage output can provide up to 5A of regulated current and iscapable of handling a wide range of input voltages, from 3V to 30V. The current outputprovides up to 3A of current and is also adjustable, up to a maximum of 7A.

The MIC2583R-LYQS-TR has an on-board comparator and gate driver, which allowsthe device to sense the voltage or current state of the output and adjust its dutycycle through an internal pulse-width modulation (PWM) mechanism. This internalcontrol loop results in a tight regulation and improved energy efficiency.

The MIC2583R-LYQS-TR provides additional protection via the integrated OverVoltage (OV) and Reverse Current (RC) protection circuits. Both of these featurestake full advantage of the PWM control to ensure that the input and output voltage/current limits are not exceeded.

The MIC2583R-LYQS-TR also offers a wide range of features, including autosensing capabilities, over temperature protection, multiple fault and sleep/hibernatemodes, power-saving features, and monitoring support. All of these features worktogether to ensure a high degree of reliability, safety and long-term operation of a hot-swappable unit.
