The MIC5304-XGHYMT-TR is a three-terminal, low dropout (LDO), fixed output voltage regulator that is used to efficiently supply a low-noise, stable voltage to integrated circuits and other circuitry in a variety of applications. The MIC5304-XGHYMT-TR is a linear voltage regulator which is especially well-suited to applications where a very low output voltage and high load currents are required. It is designed to provide extremely low noise output voltages with an output voltage range of 1.2 V to 2.7 V and output current capacity of up to 1 A.
The device has an input voltage range of 4.5 V to 15 V and an output voltage accuracy of ±1.5%. It also features a low quiescent current of 90 μA with no load and a very low dropout voltage of 200 mV for a 1 A load. The MIC5304-XGHYMT-TR comes in a very small SOT-23-5 package and provides excellent output ripple rejection of 85 dB at 4.0 kHz.
The MIC5304-XGHYMT-TR is ideal for a wide range of applications including microcomputer systems, neural networks, digital and analog circuitries, telecommunications, instrumentation and personal entertainment systems. It can be used in power management, analog and interface control, low-voltage power supply, and battery-operated, low-current and low-voltage regulator applications.
The working principle of the MIC5304-XGHYMT-TR is based on the fact that it is a linear voltage regulator which uses a pass transistor to regulate the output voltage and current. The pass transistor is controlled by an internal error amplifier which senses the output voltage and adjusts the pass transistor in order to maintain a constant output voltage. The pass transistor is connected to an external feedback voltage divider in order to set the desired regulated output voltage. The feedback voltage divider also senses the output voltage, and when the voltage falls below the set value, the error amplifier increases the base current of the pass transistor and the output voltage increases. When the output voltage is greater than the set value, the error amplifier decreases the base current of the pass transistor and the output voltage decreases.
The MIC5304-XGHYMT-TR also features a number of protection features, including over-current protection, reverse-bias protection, thermal shutdown, and complete protection against accidental shorts or overloads. The device also includes an output disable function which can be used to put the device into a low-power state. The MIC5304-XGHYMT-TR is a highly reliable and cost-effective solution for powering a wide range of electronic devices.
