Working Principle

The MIC5320-SPYMT-TR is a high current, step-down switching regulator. It is capable of operating from an input voltage range between 3V to 14V, and the output voltage can be adjusted from 0.8V to 5.5V using a single control pin. It provides a Constant-On-Time Frequency Control scheme to regulate the load voltage accurately. The wide output voltage range and high output current allows the regulator to work with many popular references in addition to its own internal 5V enable and 3.3V trim reference.

The MIC5320-SPYMT-TR operates in Fixed-Frequency (FF) mode when it is enabled by an enable input pin EN. During the enable period, the MIC5320-SPYMT-TR runs in continuous conduction mode and hysteresis current limit to keep the load current at a desired level.
