MIC5393-PGYMT-T5 application field and working principle

The MIC5393-PGYMT-T5 is a high-performance, low-dropout, low-noise linear regulator. The small-package regulator optimized for low-noise-sensitive applications and low input/output voltage regions. It uses a P-channel MOSFET transistor and low-noise, low-dropout architecture that minimize power delivery noise, eliminating power sequencing concerns in CP system designs. The device is offered in five packages ranging from a MicroSMD package to a standard SOT23-5 for power management applications.

Working Principle

The MIC5393-PGYMT-T5 is a low-dropout low-noise linear regulator. It consists of an internal P-channel MOSFET transistor, a voltage reference and current limit circuitry, protection circuitry and thermal shutdown. The device uses a low-noise, low-dropout architecture that minimizes power delivery noise, eliminating noise concerns in CP system designs. The internal MOSFET transistor switches on/off when the output voltage reaches a certain current level that enables the device to maintain a very low dropout voltage. The output voltage is regulated to within 2.5% of its set value. The device also has integrated protection circuits such as automatic current limit, overcurrent protection, inrush current protection and thermal protection.

The device can operate with a wide input voltage range from 2.2V to 9.8V making it ideal for use in a wide range of system designs. It has a low quiescent current of 220μA and a shutdown current of 1μA, which makes it suitable for applications where power efficiency is a concern. The device is available in three fixed output voltage options of 1.2V, 1.5V and 2.5V and is provided in a 5-lead SOT23-5 package.

The MIC5393-PGYMT-T5 is ideal for a wide range of applications such as VoIP and multimedia systems, networking, portable devices, GPS and automotive, industrial equipment and medical systems.
