The MIC5396-GMYMX-T5 is a two-terminal Linear Voltage Regulator (LVR) that provides an output voltage that is regulated within an adjustable voltage range. The device senses the base-emitter voltage of the power MOSFET, and adjusts the gate voltage to maintain the regulated output voltage. When the input voltage is lower than the reference, the device will operate as a current source and will draw the necessary current from the input source using the built-in power MOSFET.
The device offers excellent line and load regulation under static and dynamic operating conditions. It also provides good power efficiency under heavy load and provides rapid transient response to changing input and output voltages. The MIC5396-GMYMX-T5 is equipped with a discrete current limiting and open-drain MOSFET which can help protect the device and the load from excessive current.
