MIC5501-1.8YMT-T5 Application Field and Working Principle

The MIC5501-1.8YMT-T5 is an integrated, low quiescent current, low-dropout linear regulator designed to provide up to 1.6 A of load current. The device offers an excellent combination of low dropout voltage, fast transient response, high output current, very low quiescent current, and low noise. The MIC5501-1.8YMT-T5 is a member of the MIC5500 family of integrated fixed and adjustable regulators. The device is optimised for very-low dropout performances, allowing it to operate from a wide range of input voltages.

The MIC5501-1.8YMT-T5 is a member of the MIC5500 family of integrated fixed- and adjustable linear regulators, featuring a low dropout voltage of 200 mV. The device is designed to provide ultra-low quiescent current and low noise operation. The MIC5501-1.8YMT-T5 offers excellent transient response and very low output ripple. It also features over-temperature protection, over-current protection, a reset output, and a selectable power-down mode.

The MIC5501-1.8YMT-T5 is used in automotive applications, such as motor control, battery management systems, mobile device charger applications, routers, and switches, as well as in general purpose voltage regulator applications. The device offers a very-low ground current of 1.2μA and a quiescent current of only 80μA, which is significantly lower than competing devices. The device is packaged in a tiny SOT-23-5 package and is designed to operate over the temperature range of -40°C to 85°C.
