Working Principle
The MIC6315-30D2U TR works with a Push-Button reset input, a programmable reset period timer, an 8-bit prescaler, a hysteresis voltage monitor, a bandgap reference, and a regulator. When power from a host system is applied to the MIC6315-30D2U TR, the Push-Button reset is asserted directly to the microcontroller for a RESET pulse, independent of the system power supply. In this way, the MIC6315-30D2U TR ensures a reliable reset even under extreme system power conditions.
The MIC6315-30D2U TR contains a timer circuit, an 8-bit prescaler, a comparator and an adjustable voltage detector. The 8-bit prescaler divides the system clock by 256, producing a signal with a frequency of 2.5 kHz. This signal is supplied to the timer circuit, which generates a specified delay before it triggers the voltage detector. The voltage detector monitors the system voltage during the prescribed period then issues a reset signal when the voltage falls below a specified threshold value. This is a foolproof method for detecting power drop beyond the power-on threshold and resetting the system.
