The MK5811CMLFT is a temperature compensated crystal oscillator used in clock/timing applications, such as clock generators, PLLs and frequency synthesizers. The main components of the MK5811CMLFT are a quartz crystal resonator and an integrated circuit (IC) to generate a high-frequency clock signal. The MK5811CMLFT integrates an internal temperature compensated oscillator (TCO) circuit to compensate for the temperature shifts in the quartz crystal resonator.

The TCO circuit consists of an analog temperature sensor, a reference oscillator, an analog-to-digital converter, and a digital temperature compensator. The analog-to-digital converter converts the error voltage into a digital signal which is then used by the digital temperature compensator to adjust the output frequency of the oscillator in order to maintain a stable and accurate frequency over temperature.

The MK5811CMLFT has variable frequency tuning, enabling the user to adjust the output frequency with varying temperatures. This is done by adjusting the digital temperature compensator which can perform small adjustments in the output frequency in order to maintain a stable frequency over temperature.
