The MM74HC4051M is an 8-channel analog multiplexer/demultiplexer chip from the popular line of 74HC logic chips. It is designed to provide an interface between either analog or digital busses and switching banks. This device allows high-speed communications between devices of different types, as well as providing a very versatile means of controlling analog switchover.The MM74HC4051M consists of four independently selectable, two-channel analog multiplexers. Each of the 8-channel multiplexers can be used to select one of two independent inputs and place it on the single output or it can be used to place two inputs on the two outputs respectively. The device also includes two control lines, allowing the selection of which of the two channels is active. The device is also capable of functioning as a 4-bit analog demultiplexer/decoder, allowing the user to specify which of the four output lines is active.The MM74HC4051M has a high speed operation of 8.3 ns, making it well suited for most applications.
