MMBD4448HTW-7 is a kind of diode array chip with multiple full bridge rectifier diodes, specially designed for high frequency rectifier applications and working with high temperatures. It is most commonly used in various modern appliances, because of its low forward voltage, fast switching capability and other advantages. The working principle of MMBD4448HTW-7 is to utilize the rectifier diodes inside to convert alternating current (AC) input into direct current (DC) output. The bridge rectifier is essentially composed of four diodes arranged in a clamped topology, two are positively connected and the other two are negatively connected.
In the direct current rectifier circuit, MMBD4448HTW-7 diode can greatly reduce the rectified current ripple caused by low frequency and short doubled wave type. It can also reduce the distortion coefficient of voltage, current or power caused by the positive half cycle and negative half cycle of the alternating current wave to make the rectified voltage waveform is more closer to DC output. During the conversion process, it can prevent the current reverse flowing in opposite direction.
MMBD4448HTW-7 can be divided into two types, the normal bridge rectifier and the combined bridge rectifier. In the normal bridge rectifier, two of the diodes are forwardly connected and the other two are reversely connected, acting as four arms of the rectifier circuit. It can convert a single-phase AC input into a full wave DC output. And in the combined bridge rectifier, it is composed of a reverse inhibitor diode (RID), a reverse current limiting diode (RCLD) and two antiparallel normal diodes (D) acting as four braced arms. It can convert a two-phase AC input into a full wave DC output.
