Once the MMQA 15 VT1 absorbs the energy, the internal diode structure then dissipates the transients as heat. The device can safely withstand multiple transient spikes before the thermal shutdown feature kicks in, and the thermal management feature helps ensure that the device doesn’t overheat. It is also self-protecting, as if the voltage spike is too large, the device will short circuit itself to protect the other components on the circuit.
