Optoisolators provide a method of isolating digital and/ or analog circuits and can also be used to convert signals from one form to another. The MOC8104S is an optoisolator which uses a transistor and photovoltaic output to provide electrical isolation between two circuits. The transistor output provides isolation and signal conversion of a voltage signal, while the photovoltaic component provides direct galvanic isolation between two circuits.
