A PMIC - Gate Drivers, the MP1924HS-LF is an integrated circuit (IC) gate driver for IGBTs and MOSFETs that is capable of driving two or three pairs of low-and-high power semiconductor device gates. It is based on current-mode PWM with embedded seven-level sine-triangle modulator. The MP1924HS-LF provides differential gate driving capability for IGBTs and MOSFETs with high reliability and can withstand the avalanche turns-on of all the IGBTs in parallel with the MP1924HS-LFs.

The high current gate drive capability of the MP1924HS-LF is provided by its integrated driver circuits, which are powered through the voltage pin. This integrated driver circuits use a low-side and a high-side driver that jointly provide up to +/-3A of gate-drive current. Its high drive current together with the necessary small dead time it provides, allows the part to drive the large variety of high switching frequency, high current semiconductor devices like MOSFETs and IGBTs.

The MP1924HS-LF offers several advanced features including fault detection and a built-in Counterflow short circuit protection. The fault detection feature detects any short circuit on the gate drive output and the lead-to logic output then indicates the fault. Additionally, the Counterflow overcurrent and overvoltage protection protects against overloaded devices. This protection is provided by a controlled current source (CCS) which can provide up to 4A at 25V.

The MP1924HS-LF is designed to work and be compatible with off-the-shelf IGBTs and MOSFETs as it provides driver isolation of minim 2KV for both sides.It features a single ended input providing a wide operating range from 1.8V to 8.5V. On-chip charge pump is provided to allow the part to directly drive IGBTs up to 1200V.

The MP1924HS-LF is engineered with seven-level sine-triangle modulator to minimize EMI levels and power losses. It is also current-mode control for enhanced fast transient response due to the accurate current sense feedback. This feature together with the built-in linear frequency response also support flexible modulation formats like sinusoidal pulse width modulation (SPWM).
