Working Principle

The MP26123DR-LF-P uses a constant current/constant voltage (CC/CV) system to charge the battery. This topology operates by supplying a constant current to the battery, until the battery voltage reaches the constant voltage threshold. At this point, the charging current is reduced to a very low value known as the charge termination current.The MP26123DR-LF-P constantly monitors the voltage across the battery using an internal voltage divider and a precision delta-sigma A/D converter. The charger will automatically terminate the charging cycle when the voltage reaches the pre-set float voltage. The MP26123DR-LF-P also features a recharge computing circuit, which monitors the battery voltage decrease during system operations and can automatically restart the charging cycle when the battery voltage drops below a certain threshold. The charger also has several power saving features, such as standby mode and low dropout linear regulator mode to even further optimize power consumption. In Standby mode, the part is still active, but all charger circuits are shut down. In low dropout linear regulator mode, only the USB input voltage is regulated and the charger circuits are completely shut down.
