MPC8548CDS is a development system designed to provide a dedicated platform for the evaluation of automotive, industrial, wireless, networking, and mobile products based on Freescale\'s MPC8548E PowerQUICC II Pro processor. This development system is an integral part of the full range of Freescale automotive and industrial signal processing products which also feature Freescale embedded controllers, microcontrollers, digital signal processors, and networked processor cores. The MPC8548CDS is a high performance system and provides a wide range of system-on-chip performance, and is a highly integrated platform for evaluation and development. The MPC8548CDS was designed for the evaluation of products based on Freescale\'s MPC8548E PowerQUICC II Pro processor. The MPC8548E is a 32-bit, single-core PowerPC processor with a 32-bit bus. It features 32KB of RAM, 32KB of ECC Flash memory, 2MB of boot Flash, 10/100 Ethernet and USB 2.0 interfaces, and a PCI Express Gen 2 capability to connect external devices. It also features several peripheral signal interface options such as I2C, Serial Advanced Peripheral Interconnect (SAPIC), and Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI), and can be configured with a variety of embedded Linux distributions, such as MontaVista Linux, Freescale Linux, and Wind River Linux. The MPC8548CDS is highly integrated and provides coverage of the full range of automotive and industrial signal processing products from Freescale.The MPC8548CDS provides users with a fully configurable, industry-standard, 32-bit PCI Express interface, with a PCI Express Gen 2 capability allowing users to connect to and communicate with external devices. This interface enables multiple devices to be controlled and monitored via a single connection. The MPC8548CDS also offers support for the Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) specification, allowing users to access system functions as well as providing power management capability.The MPC8548CDS supports a number of operating systems including Linux, VxWorks, Windows CE, and QNX. The MPC8548CDS provides a robust development platform with the availability of a wide range of software development tools and libraries, such as the Freescale\'s CodeWarrior Development Studio, which enables software developers to create advanced embedded applications. The development system also provides an interface to a wide range of existing 3rd party development and evaluation tools such as Flash memory programmers, serial test tools, USB protocol analyzers, and signal and oscilloscope interfaces.The MPC8548CDS development system is designed to meet the requirements of the automotive and industrial markets. The system provides a fully configurable industrial-standard 32-bit PCI Express interface with a Gen 2 capability for connecting to external devices and supports a range of embedded Linux distributions. It also provides support for a wide range of development tools and libraries enabling developers to create advanced embedded applications. The system also has the option of connecting to a variety of external devices such as peripheral signal interface options, test equipment, and other evaluation tools.
