Working Principle

MURS160/2 is a single diode rectifier. It works by allowing the current to flow in only one direction. Positive charges flow from the anode to the cathode, it is known as forward current. This current flows through the semiconductor device producing voltage and current in the output circuit depending on the external load present. It acts as an artificial one-way valve allowing the current to flow in one direction.

When an AC power is given, the output voltage will vary based on the input voltage level and the load present. The AC input is divided in two-halves, each half will alternate between positive to negative and negative to positive. The device will only conduct when the voltage is positive, blocking the current flow when the voltage is negative. This way it eliminates any negative flow of the current thereby acting as a rectifier.
