This bi-directional diode offers excellent ESD protection, excellent surge ratings of 1500W for 10/1000µs, a low clamping voltage, a safe operating area (SOA) curve, and fast response in the nanoseconds range. The application field is broad, and covers such components as computers, telecommunications, audio amplifiers, batteries and automotive applications.

Working Principle

TVS-diodes work by clamping down the voltage of an electronic component during transient overloads. This clamping action allows the attached component to remain functional and avoid damage from voltage transients. The MX1N8148US, when connected to a circuit, will enter clamping mode when the voltage across the diode reaches a certain level. Transients are classified according to their strength and duration.
