The MXL15KP43CA is a TVS (Transient Voltage Suppressor) Diode, and more specifically, is part of the Multi-Pulse family of TVS Diodes. A TVS Diode differs from a standard diode in that it consists of a junction-type diode with a silicon-controlled rectifier and/or unidirectional bidirectional thyristor that can fail-safe. It is designed to protect a circuit from voltage transients, such as Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) and Lightning Induced Transients, and is typically used in Telecommunications/Data Communications equipment, Automotive, Industrial Automation and Consumer Electronics applications.The MXL15KP43CA is a unidirectional device, meaning that current will flow in one direction only, and is rated at 1500 watts (15KP43CA). It has a working voltage of 43V and a peak pulse current of 8.1A. The peak working current is specified at 8.0A, with a clamping voltage of 60V. It has an extremely fast response time of 2.4ns, making it suitable for use in high-speed telecommunication systems.
