MXP4KE24A Circuit Protection

The MXP4KE24A is a unidirectional, bidirectional and quad directions surface mount TVS diodes designed to protect electronics from damage incurred due to Electrostatic Discharge (ESD). The part is designed with a peak pulse power rating of 400W per line. The MXP4KE24A is used for transient voltage suppression in automotive, consumer electronics, industrial, medical and telecommunication applications.

The MXP4KE24A ESD diode offers superior ESD protection with a maximum clamping voltage from 8.2V to 17V across two pins. This device provides ESD protection from 8kV contact and 15kV air. It can dissipate transient energy without letting it saturate the electronics, and its low capacitance in array configuration makes it ideal for usage in high-speed data line interfaces.

The MXP4KE24A is a DOE or diode clipper configuration which has a built in avalanche diode to improve performance. This configuration works by clipping the ESD voltage, and the inherent diode components function as the normal Zener or avalanche diode. This improves EMI/RFI performance in comparison to a single diode configuration.

The working principle of the MXP4KE24A is to reduce the peak voltage below the damage threshold of the connected device and protect it from ESD damage.
