The Transient Voltage Suppressor Diode (TVS) is a type of protection diode designed to protect sensitive electronic equipment from voltage transients in the power supply lines, caused by external influences, such as lightning, electrical spikes or short-circuits. The device measures 160V maximum peak pulse power dissipation and is capable of withstanding up to 4,000-watt peak power dissipation in the unidirectional mode. Its unique construction overcomes the limitations of conventional diodes and provides superior protection against surges in systems today.The device has a breakdown voltage rating of 110V and provides reliable clamping over the normal operating range of 5V to 150V. The minimum breakdown voltage refers to the voltage at which the device will start clamping, which is typically the lowest clamping voltage that the device can achieve. When the applied input voltage is above the breakdown voltage, the device will begin to significantly reduce the input voltage. This will result in the voltage being clamped at a level that is significantly lower than the breakdown voltage.The device is designed to limit the voltage applied to an electronic circuit, protecting it from transient surges.
