The NCV33163P is a synchronous constant-frequency current-mode step-down molex connector-packaged DC–DC switch-mode regulator. It features unique FET conduction loss reduction for high efficiency and very low noise, as well as ESD protection and low output ripple. This makes it ideal for powering off battery systems in industrial, consumer, and automotive applications.
The NCV33163P offers wide input voltage range from 6.5V to 30V and an adjustable output voltage up to 12.5V. It also has an adjustable switching frequency of up to 2MHz, which allows for efficient power delivery even when the load varies.
The synchronous step-down regulator model of the NCV33163P switches between two phases when the load changes, thus delivering a more efficient power supply solution. The two phases push-pull configuration allow for a higher output current than single phase regulators, enabling the use of a smaller size inductor.
This feature also ensures low input current ripple, a highly linear response to the load current demand at all output voltages, and low output voltage ripple. It also enables faster transient performance and higher efficiency than traditional single phase regulators.
The NCV33163P has an integrated logic-intelligent control loop, allowing it to adjust the output voltage and current precisely and automatically. This reduces the size and cost of resistors and capacitors needed for an external control loop, as well as simplifying the design of the complete system for power supply applications.
The NCV33163P’s internal current sense amplifier ensures accurate current monitoring and loop compensation for fast transient response and excellent line/load regulation. Its robust protection features include soft start, UVLO, overvoltage protection, and cycle-by-cycle current limiting.
The NCV33163P is designed to provide an efficient, cost-effective power solution for high power applications. It is ideal for use in industrial motor control applications, lighting systems, and medical instruments. It is also suited for automotive applications, such as powering car electronics, and the high input range and adjustable output feature.
