NCV317LBDG is the three terminal adjustable, ultra-low quiescent current low-dropout linear voltage regulator designed by ON Semiconductor specially for providing an accuracy regulated output voltage for various analog load using space-constraint and low power consumption applications. The device furnishes an output current of 1 Amp with excellent stability and extremely low dropout voltage and ultra-low Vq of 9 μA. It offers maximum output accuracy of ±2.5%, maximum output voltage of 24 V, over-temperature protection and improved line and load regulatioin.
Applications of NCV317LBDG
The NCV317LBDG has its application in various consumer, communication, industrial and medical electronics applications in which the circuit requires low power regulated output voltage with ultra-low quiescent current. These applications include telecom, industrial lighting, computer peripherals, office equipment, WLAN systems, industrial control, portable instruments, automotive and consumer electronics.Working Principle
The NCV317LBDG works on the principle of adjustable low-dropout linear voltage regulation. When there is an input voltage applied to the regulator, it passes through the two resistors and the transistor in the voltage regulating path. When the static output voltage reaches the expected value, the feedback input of the regulator starts to close the current limitation circuit by reducing the output current through the two resistors until the output voltage reaches the desired value.At the same time, the over-temperature protection circuit of the device also gets activated whenever the write junction temperature surpasses the allowed preset limit. This ultimately leads to the shutdown of the regulator and prevents the device from overheating and damaging the system.Features of NCV317LBDG
The NCV317LBDG features an ultra-low 9 μA quiescent current, improved line and load regulation, adjustable output voltage, over-temperature protection circuit with shut-down and programmable output current limit. The basic features of the device include 3.0 V to 24 V output voltage range, ±2.5% output voltage accuracy and 0.001%/°C line regulation.The device also has excellent line and load regulation, short circuit protection and low output noise. Its ultra-low quiescent current makes it an ideal choice for battery powered applications. The device is offered in an 8-pin SOIC package with options of lead (Pb) free or standard lead finish.Usability of NCV317LBDG
