Working Principle

The NCV51400MNTXG is a low-dropout linear regulator designed for automotive applications. It is based on a proprietary architecture and proprietary circuitry to provide high efficiency, low noise, and low quiescent current. In operation, the device provides one adjustable output voltage from 3.75V to 12V by using an external resistor divider. The feedback voltage from the divider is compared to a voltage reference and it is used to control the output voltage.
