The NRF51422-CFAC-RF transceiver IC is the latest high-performance transceiver developed for low-power wireless applications. Working Principle

The NRF51422-CFAC-R transceiver IC uses the 2.4GHz radio frequency band. It operates in the 2.4GHz radio band with a single-ended power supply voltage from 1.8V to 3.6V. The device is capable of data rate up to 1Mbps and an on-off keying modulation scheme with a basic modulation index of 0.5. The transceiver is also equipped with a 2.4GHz low-noise amplifier with 26dB gain and an integrated power detector. The power detector measures the power level of the received signal and then adjusts the receiving sensitivity accordingly. This enables the transceiver to automatically adjust its sensitivity for signals varying in range. The transceiver also implements a flexible Equalizer (EQ) to improve the performance in environments with high noise or multipath interference.

In addition, the NRF51422-CFAC-R transceiver uses three power modes – active modes, low power listening, and low energy mode. The device can adjust its power setting depending on the application requirements to optimize the power consumption. In active mode, the device is on and can reach a data rate of 1Mbps. In low power listening mode, the device is dormant but always listening for packets from a remote host. In low energy mode, the device is completely off and highest power savings is achieveable.

The NRF51422-CFAC-R offers a comprehensive software suite which includes advanced link layer features such as adaptive frequency hopping (AFH) and frequency hopping spread spectrum (FHSS), as well as a range of enhanced security options.
