Working Principle

The NTS12120EMFST3G module is a high efficiency single-phase rectifier system with active current wave-shaping to reduce power loss and thermal performance in both hard switching and soft switching applications. The rectifier employs a pair of fast, high voltage, low on-state voltage (VON) MOSFETs.The MOSFETs are operated in linear mode using a constant on-time (COT) wave-shaping technique that reduces losses by wave-shaping the current waveform and minimizing the ‘ripples’ in the waveform. The waveform is then compared to an ideal waveform and if the actual waveform does not match the ideal waveform, the MOSFETs are operated in a switching mode.

The NTS12120EMFST3G is also equipped with an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) that continuously monitors the current waveform and enables Soft Switching and Precharge Control, enabling more robust control of the current waveform. The rectifier also has an over-current protection circuit and a short-circuit protection circuit.
