The P5040-RDB evaluation board is a powerful platform for designing and developing embedded systems implementing both Power Architecture and ARM processor architectures. It provides both the resources necessary for users to evaluate and debug the different processors, and also a usable example system for end users. It is a complete platform for evaluating, developing and testing embedded designs.

The P5040-RDB is based on the Freescale QorIQ P5040 processor. This processor is a multi-core superscalar design that supports up to eight cores in maximum configurations. It features an advanced memory subsystem, high-speed peripherals, graphics acceleration, SAS/SATA, PCI Express, Gigabit Ethernet, and an array of digital I/O expansion interfaces. The processor also integrates RISC support for ARM and Power Architecture architectures.

The P5040-RDB is equipped with extensive peripheral support to meet the needs of high-performance embedded system developers, including DDR3L SDRAM, NAND flash, large boot flash, five USB 2.0 ports, four Gigabit Ethernet ports, one FPGA, one LPC interface, four RJ45 connectors, one CAN bus port, one SATA3 port, one USB3.0 port, one microUSB port, one HD video support, and one HDMI port.
